Please let me know if I can just buy Adobe Photoshop Lightroom on its own OR do I have to have CP3 as well??

No, you do not. It is a stand alone workflow management and editing suite. CS3 is meant to suppliment lightroom with anything more in depth than standard color corrections and minor spot removal. Lightroom will export directly to CS3. On its own, lightroom with correct for abberations caused by the camera and lens, color temperature and hue, tonal corrections, spot/dust removal, red eye correction and horizon correction. It will also organize DVD video slide shows and web publishing. IMO, it is an awesome program and great alternative to CS3 for photographers who do not need the full package to edit photos. For me it is all I need as I am more of a traditionalist, so I don't do a lot of digital editing aside from enhancement.

Lightroom is an editing tool and Photoshop is a digital darkroom. I use both kinds of software in my work
