How to use downloaded brushes in Photoshop?

I tried to download some brushes from deviant art. First off, my computer only gave me the option to open with or save to disk. I did open with photoshop. But, it just opens photoshop, and thats it. How do I use downloaded brushes?! Be incredibly basic and step by step, because I have no clue what I am doing and I am still learning even basic photoshop terms and techniques! Thanks! (If it helps you to explain with an example, one of the things I want to do is add snowflakes to a Christmas card. I clicked download on a snowflake brush, but I don't know if it worked or not. So, how would I actually add the snowflakes to the card?)

Save to disc, if you have a choice, save to your desktop.

Now go to My computer%26gt;C:\%26gt;Program Files%26gt;Adobe%26gt;Your version of photoshop%26gt;presets%26gt;brushes.

Dump the downloaded brushes in here.

The same can be done with filters and such by changing the last directory of 'brushes' to filters etc.

Then you can select your brush by clicking the icon that looks like (%26gt;) (circle with an arrow in it) and select the brush name to use.

Hope this helped.
