In photoshop 7...?live update

ctrl + M is the short-cut key to u'r question. Try to change the curve points to apply B%26W effect to u'r scanned Grayscale image. First take u'r image in Grayscale mode. Then apply ctrl+M

In photoshop 7...?norten

if you are using IBM press on "shift+ctrl+U"

if you are using MAC press "shift+apple+U"

this will turn your picture to black and white, you can also find that in the tool bar : image - adjustments - desturate

the alpha effect i am not very sure
Yes...there is such an option:

Try to visit http://www.pixel2life.com for very good and helpful tutorials and also visit this website and you can become very good at many things... http://www.watchandlearnphotoshop.com
from Image%26gt; Adjustment%26gt; Photo Filter%26gt; then chose Color and chose the black color, make the density 100 Then OK

And all the effects can be applied on alpha
go to: i cant remember but one the menus on top bar has colour mode or just mode, click and go to grey scale. u need to selets ur layer tho.hope it helps and alpha? i dunno that. is it an effect? prob in the effects panel or sub panels. u knw hw to use firewrks? u use an apple mac? are u a designer or just doing it as a hobby? let us knw. im in graphics.
to convert to black and white, convert the image to greyscale. I think its under the image menu.. you can convert it to cmyk, rgb or greyscale.

There are alpha channels which are in your layers drop down menu i think.
i'm soo drunk but if i was'nt i would totaly help you! as a drunk person i will honestly say yes there is a way to alter the color on photoishop!

as a mater of fact photoishop 7 is more advanced than fireworks in that it has more opptions and features

fire works is just more user friendly!
