I need to design some shirts on photoshop. How can I put an image on top of a drawn shirt but cut off th image where it goes outside the lines of the shirt?

There is a tool named the lasso outline the image you want from the other pic then.use the arrow to move it to the other image. if it needs to be finxed go to edit then free transform and fix it to fit inside the shirt

If you want to cut away the image after going outside the outline of the shirt, select the layer you want to cut and go into quick mask mode. This is found under where you set foreground and background colour (or shortcut key Q).
Once in quick mask mode you can select the paintbrush tool and essentially draw over the bits you want to cut off, It will start drawing in red, don't panic it's just the masking. (might be worth setting the transparency on the layer you want to cut so you can see the shirt outline).
When you have masked over the bits in red you want to cut off, press Q again or Edit in standard mode button to the left of the quick mas button.
You will now have the selection lines around the parts you wish to cut off. Hit delete or right click and select layer via cut (so you still have the image on a different layer in case you wish to go back, just hide the layer to make it disappear). If you delete the wrong thing undo, right click the selection and select "invert selection"
